Benjamin Zhang Bin a.k.a. BENJAMIN

Have any of you'll heard of Benjamin Zhang before????

well I guess not much of you'll know him. Well let me do the introduction, he is a cartoonist( a manhwa cartoonist) from China. Got to know about this chap and his work through GEMPAK magazine a few years back. Man from there on I am like a big fan of Benjamin's work. His artworks are very unique in their own perspective and his favourite medium of artwork is using the Adobe Photoshop and pencil sketches and other medium of art also(hehe sorry not sure about his other mediums used:p)

If you searched the net you can't really find much details about Benjamin. But if you do know mandarin you can visit his blog here.

His update on his works are displayed there..haha took me a while to go through his blog since I have zero knowledge of mandarin. But do get to know Benjamin and his artworks. When I went back home to Malaysia last year I was surprise to find his comic on the local market. Yeah believe me I was damn surprised and the urge to get that book was damn tempting...hehe cost me RM7 (damn that's expensive but it was worth it). The book was published by GEmPAK (jz got to say thanks to them for publishing it).

Well where was I, oh ya the RM7 ,yeah the book was called 'REMEMBER'. The artwork was super, detailed, lively and nice. His perspective of art is breath taking not to mention the storyline was kind of cool and not your typical comic stuff. Hahaha had some maturity to it.

As far as I know Benjamin has released this books..
1)Remember
2)One Day
3)Orange

damn I'm still looking for the other 2 book, still don't know where to get them from. Hahaha but anyway here are some artworks of Benjamin Zhang, be memerized...

the man has talent..

Ben is now in Corsica. Tonight at around 11 p.m. I dialed his mobile number and his phone was switched off. I felt so bad that I did not want to do anything but googling his name~~then I saw your blog.

I told my mother that I was in a relationship with a cartoonist, my mother said:love art, but do not love artists.

She's right.

I can tell those things for I am quite sure he will never read it, his English is awful.

His works are published in China, France and Malaysia. Can you read
French? BTW, the most often used software is not PhotoShop, it's Painter. And I've never seen him drawing pictures with pencil.

i love his art, it's incredible wonderful...

But after all those things he had to go through to become an artist and to publish his art he hadn't understood the most important things about the youth, becoming an adult and he didn't get what it means to live.

I'm not a wise girl. I am just 15 years old. There are so many things I haven't seen and so many places I want to go... But I can say for sure that life is not as he describes. I hope he will understand, someday...

BTW, Benjamin and Zhan Bin are of course the one and the same person!

Hi I bought his book "Orange" so his books are published in the USA now too. In the back it said "Remember" will be available from Tokyopop in June 2009.

"Where shall we go" is a fiction book written in Chinese, and is not his best work in my view. My favorite is his "Basement".
BTW, a manhua magazine supervised by Benjamin will be released this April.
Chinese also.
